Having sorted my 10 year quest for a specific Gretsch model I figured I’d cross another one of the list ...
Ever since seeing the Luther Dickinson signature model I’ve wanted a P90 equipped ES 335 with a Bigsby. I’ve had a 335 for about 5 years and it was quite a search finding one with a (chunky) neck I liked so the idea of getting another never appealed. I added a Bigsby some time back but had always held off on the pickup change. I did try some humbucker sized P90s but neither the tone or the look convinced me. So I stuck with the humbuckers.
Recently I sold my SG - which I’d dropped some Bare Knuckle Nantucket P90s into. So I took them out first and sent them back to BKP to have them converted to Dogear mount. They arrived back yesterday and today I bit the bullet ...
The guitar has new life! Much more vibrant and less muddy sounding and I’m pretty pleased with the look too.
