Has anyone had a go with these yet? I know they were just introduced at NAMM earlier this year (i remember reading the thread) and didn't ship until Spring, but they've been out for a few months now.

No places near me carry them, but Humbucker has the OR15 for $630 and the OR50 for $1400.

For $630 a vintage-voiced Orange amp i pretty appealing, even one made abroad, since the original OR's go for $2500+ these days. And i wonder how the 50 compares to the 15? I may have to put one on my wishlist this Christmas if they're any good.

No..but I'm in the same boat as you. There's OR120 at guitar center that I love, but can't afford it. I'm searching out that OR15. I want to definitely see if it has a similar voicing.

How much do they want for it? I usually see original OR120s go for around $3k, which sucks if you actually want one and aren't loaded. Plus they aren't exactly usable at lower volumes.

Unfortunately, from what i've been reading, the OR15 is nothing like it's larger cousins, but more like a re-voiced Jim Root, since it has 4 gain stages and an identical power stage.

Maybe the OR50, even though it has way less in the way of features, would be my best bet.

Or maybe i should just save for a Matamp if i want to scratch the Orange itch. It seems like every time i find a sub-$1000 solution to my amp wants, it ends up not being adequate.

That's lame that the reissue isn't voiced in the same way... I wish they would be around the guitar center now. I wish it did because 50 watts is a bit much still..

I think it was around 2400.. I guarantee they would sell it under a two grand as its been sitting there for around a year in a half. I talked to a salesman about it and he pretty much told me they wanted to dump it.. I would consider it, but I definitely don't the funds. The amp itself is honestly not that loud.. you can run it half without destroying anything. I always hear that rumor that Oranges are known to be quieter even with the higher wattages.

Wait for a used Matamp 1224 or King Street to pop up. 30 watts, unless you go with a 1224 and use 6V6s. They usually sell for around $1400 used. The 1224 has more features but they both have the classic Matamp tones and are able to do more modern gain levels as well.

$2k would be a pretty good price for a decent condition OR120. Even a "quiet" 120w is still loud though "laugh2:

Abbe, i looked into the 1224 before. It's a shame, just a few years ago they were significantly cheaper, something like 650 Euros (a little over a grand) but Matamp hiked their prices pretty significantly. The 1224 is sorta the jack-of-all-trades Orange/Matamp voiced amp. It sits right in that wattage sweet spot, you can run it single ended, and it has a ton of features. I've been GAS'ing for one for quite awhile.

I would love to try some matamps out but I haven't never seen them anywhere...As far as I know as well I bet the OR120 could get knocked to around 1700-1900 honestly. Its not mint shape by any means, tolex is a tad rough on it.

I've seen quite a few older 1224s sell for about $1400. They are really awesome amps. Really worth waiting for a used one to turn up. The controls are pretty damn weird though. There's a trick to dialing in the reverb and the treble and presence controls operate a little differently to your normal treble and presence. All the classic Orange Matamp tones are there though.

EDIT-There's one for sale on the Matamp Forum...unfortunately UK shipping only. Only 750GBP.
