Says on gearnews that the 50s has weight relief and the 60s does not. Have not found info on Gibson's own site tho.

Are you referring to the current lineup of original collection Les Paul Standards? 50’s & 60’s gloss and faded? If so, gearnews has incorrect information. No standard from the original collection and Slash standard have any weight relief. You can find sub 9lbs USA standards if you look for it. I had a 8lbs 10oz Slash and have a 8lb 10oz 50’s gloss. I’ve seen lighter. It’s not unheard of to get to those vintage and custom shop weight range in the USA line without weight relief.

Remember the Faded Specials line? Those were great. I had an SG Special Faded I should've never sold. 50's neck, decent pickups, and a padded gigbag from Guitar Center back in the early '00s were like $799-$899 and they still go for around that today used. Seems like the a better way to go than to offer a slightly less expensive LP Standard considering the times we are in.

Yeah, that's wat it said in their article.

I expect you are right tho, doubt they would go the extra mile for weight relief if none of the current lineup have it.

After spending time looking at many different faded ones, there is no way those are AA Tops. At best, they are A tops. I am also shocked at how many sub 9 pound ones there are available. I am waiting to hear from those who purchased one.

Trogly actually has his own ID here.
Claims the forum is irrelevant (after he learned everything he knows from the forum)
Does he still drench the fretboards in a gallon of lemon oil? It's amazing he hasn't had an inlay pop out from the flood treatment he gives.

When new, a flood treatment is what they need. All 4 of my new Gibsons have been extremely dry.
But after that? Once a year unless you live in the Sahara.
