I know there are TONS of these threads, but Im too excited not to share! :laugh2:

I just got off the phone with MF and completed my order of an Epi Les Paul Standard Plus Top! And yes, I used MF, there are no local stores within a 2 hour drive that have any Epi LPs :(

Anyway, since this is my step out of the shit guitar scene Ive been stuck in...since I was gifted my Rogue ST-3, I picked up a new amp while I was at it.

I ordered an Epiphone Les Paul Standard Plus Top in Honey Burst (or best burst...:D ) with a Roland Cube 20X. I got the Epiphone HSC for the guitar, some picks, Schaller strap locks!, and a few sets of Ernie Ball Regular Slinky's, as well as a Di'Marzio cable.

At MF the Epiphone LP HSC just went up to 79.99 but as GC has it still at 59.99 I was able to get a price match there, and the Roland Cube 20X is on the worst sale ever for $9.01 off, so I saved about 3% :laugh2::laugh2:

Anyway, Ill post pics when it arrives! I cant wait to get that baby in the mail!

Congrats! I've used Musicians Friend for my last 4 Les Paul purchases. I have very good luck with them. Enjoy! Post some pics or a video when you get it!

They really impressed me with their free shipping, they even knocked off the $10 it would have been to ship the amp!

Overall I saved about $40 off their normal list prices.

Right on NoNothing, congrats!!! I know a lot of guys say to play before you buy but sometimes our circumstances don't allow us to do that. Plus there is something very exciting about waiting for a guitar to come in the mail. Your all excited like a little kid on Christmas. And hey, there is nothing wrong with MF. Their one of the best online stores, if not the best. You get some pretty good deals and their very reliable. Its nice to know that if your guitar comes off the UPS truck in two pieces that they will replace it for you without any bullshit. Some of the best deals they offer are with their "scratch and dent" stuff. A buddy of mine just bought a "scratch and dent" American Deluxe Ash Strat for $1,400 from them and it is regularly $1,760. So he saved over $300 bucks. I looked at that thing from top to bottom and couldn't find a mark on it.

Anyway congrats on your new lester my friend. I hope you enjoy it and play the shit out of it for many years to come.

:photos: when it comes in bro!!!!

I had to mail order mine too. I don't like the way MS ships their guitars though, so went with Sweetwater. The intonation is so horribly out of whack that I feel like tossing it in a wood chipper.

MF treated me great... I bought a Fender Strat in April. Fender just recently dropped their prices and MF credited me $100 over 60 days after my purchase. They have been great to deal with! Congrats on your purchase!

Glad to hear so many positive things about MF! Ive heard good stories about their customer service when things dont turn out right, that was one of the major reasons I went with them.

I also plan on getting it setup as soon as I get it (debating freatboard scrape, I have some dunlop lemon oil). I plan on doing the setup myself, I figure I can do intonation and bridge adjustments on my own :D, worse comes to worse, I can always take it in anyway. Ill try doing my own adjustments on my ST-3 first, it NEEDS it bad, almost as bad as it needs to be made of proper wood more than an inch thick.

Ill be sure to post pics, hell, maybe an unboxing video. Ill be like a kid on chrismas (as said above) when I get tihs package.

I also sent MF a nice email explaining how much I enjoyed my customer service, hopefully that gets me something good, at the very least on their good side if things go wrong. As a point I always email or talk to the manager when I dont have a shitty customer service experience, those guys deal with assholes all day and they need someone to say when they do a good job.

I dunno. I have a few cheap guitars that have been to hell and back that all have near perfect intonation. Now, with a decent guitar, it's beyond fuxored. And not everyone has access to a pro who can set them up.

I bought a very pricey Ibanez from MF. It shipped UPS, just in the plain cardboard box that they sit on the shelf in. No padding or anything. There was a big fist-sized hole towards the top and the neck inside was snapped in half. Dealing with customer service was a huge pain in the neck, as it normally is with a company that large, but I did get a replacement. I just don't trust those guys.

well that doesnt have anything to do with intonation... that is just purely the physical distance from nut to the saddle. Beating around isnt going to turn a small screw and move the saddle each time you hit it... you might snap a neck or seomthing, but theres no reason beating it around will affect the intonation.

And you shouldnt need a setup for that, intonation should be set everytime you change strings. Just tune to the open note like normal, then make sure the 12th fret harmonic and the 12th fret note (one octave up from open) are also in perfect tune. If not, the take a screw driver and move your saddle around a bit. Each set of strings will be slightly different

What do you mean? Sorry, I'm fairly new to the guitar world. What exactly is a "setup". Where do you go? What do they do exactly? Is it really necessary after a purchase? Don't they do a setup during the manufacturing process? in that case, would it not be "set-up" when you purchase it? I would have though that when you purchase a new guitar it would be set up as best as it could be (according to its parts).

A setup is setting the action (Height of the strings off the fretboard) and the intonation (ensuring the string is the right length so the open note is the same as the 12th fret note)

To set your action you can 1, get a new nut to set the action near the tuning keys. But to set it yourself you can adjust it from the bridge. There are thumb screws under the bridge that allow you to raise or lower the bridge, thus raising or lowering the string.

To set your intonation you tune the open note, then fret the 12th fret and adjust the screw under that string on the bridge to adjust the length of the string, effecting the pitch. After your adjustment, retune the open note, then check the 12th fret again.

I've never ordered from MF, do they ship FedEx/UPS/Other? If you ordered it early yesterday, and they use those services, I'd say you might see it as early as Tuesday.

They ship UPS, smaller items ship USPS.

I have still heard no word of my order going through :\. I have received an order acknowledgment email as well as a pending transaction on my CC. I expect it to ship on Monday. With UPS ground Im hoping to get it Weds or Thursday.

Which works out pretty well for me considering Im in England right now and Ill be back home Wednesday night :laugh2::laugh2::laugh2:
