I'm on the fence about it. The dragon thing is a joke. It refers to a post a couple weeks back. And I'm really not used to the shape and scale length. I pretty much stick to LP style guitars. So it has a monumental place in your heart and you are going to sell it? Have I misunderstood maybe?
It really does sound great though my Black Magick Reverb. (I wonder if that is a coincidence...) I don't gig, so that isn't really an issue. I would never pay the $1650 these are going for new from most retailers, but the price was stupid cheap on clearance, (lees than the used ones I have seen on Reverb), so I felt compelled to take it off their hands. Obviously many people feel the same way I do. I may list it, and just try to break even on it. I may just keep it and pass it along to my daughter, Paige. I have blown more money on worse things. Time will tell.I'm with you on the mixed feelings.
JP Dragon Tele, JH Monterey Strat.... I'm cool with "signature" models as long as they are not so distinct that you end up looking like you are trying to *be* whoever the model is based on.
As a collector piece, that's a different story, but I honestly don't think the MiM Fenders (JP Dragon, JH Monterey) will ever really be considered collectible. They simply made too many and they are too "cheap" (relatively speaking).
They are cool guitars, and I'd love to have them in the collection, but they aren't models that I would play regularly, and certainly would not play at a gig unless I were in a tribute band.
