New Amp Suggestions

I still have a Line 6 Spider IV 30 amp and it worked for a while but I've come to realize that it is pretty bad. I'm looking for an amp to play in my room.

I've come across a Marshall VS100 and it looks like it is in really good condition. Would this be suitable for playing in a smaller room? I've got an overdrive pedal to put into it so I don't have to crank it for distortion. Also, is the amp any good? I just want to make sure it will be a lot better than the Line 6 because it is a hybrid amp.

If you have any other suggestions that would be great. I really like the Marshall tube amps that I've played so any suggestions for used/new amps to keep an eye out for would would be great.

What model Marshall amps have you played that you liked? Not all Marshalls sound the same.

Unless the amp doesn't have a gain control there's no need to crank the volume for distortion. That's what master volumes are for.

What's your budget and what features do you need (number channels, reverb, effect loop, etc)?

For bedroom playing you really only need less than 1W. All the rest of the power isn't required. See here:

This one came out not that long ago.

Friedman's Mini Dirty Shirley is on my very short list.

I think they are coming out with a combo version of the MDS.

I've used several ValveState Marshalls. They're great sounding amps. Very close to their all tube counterparts. Too bad Marshall discontinued them.

Line 6 Spiders are terrible. The new Boss Katanas are reliable, affordable, easy to use and they sound great.
