I wouldn't go sweating it ACELUEK,now you can say that you have a rare unstamped model :yesway:

Yeah, I'm just seeing that this run of 300 is going to result in guitars where there are slight differences between them.. Maybe all of the other signature runs were like this as well.. A 100 years from now, some of these are going to be questioned for their authenticity.. :hmm:

Hey Rudy,how's yours coming along,mate?

On another note,my tri-set of custom wound double creams from Rayne came in yesterday.
I've spent some time this morning dialing them in. Very nice! They're everything I've come to expect from Rayne's winds: articulate & clear, harmonically rich, powerful yet subtle...they're just what I wanted.

Craptacular pics to come...

My 70's Reissue is in layaway, not here yet. In the meantime I've gathered up all the necessary cream parts, tuners, etc... to convert it into an Ace except for the cream Dimarzios. Those are next on my list and I'll have them here before the guitar arrives so that I can swap out all the black parts for cream as soon as it gets here :)

It wouldn't be the first sig run from Gibson to have differences within the run. On the Rhoads sig model they started with the correct Schaller tuners and partway through switched to Gibson branded "Schallers". I asked Gibson about why they did this and never could get an answer from them, including asking some higher ups at NAMM last year. While at NAMM that year I also asked Schaller who was there at the show and they were unaware of any Gibson branded Schallers for that run. oh well.

I love the Budokan but at $7000, I'll pass. Anybody want to tell me why it's priced $5500 higher than the Epiphone version?

You can get a Budokan for $5000...

Some of the same reasons the the Epi Standard LP is $350 and the Gibson Standard LP is $2500.

It looks gorgeous, but even at $5000, I'm still too poor for one. Nice to see they are selling-enjoy boys!

I would be concerned, in a year when there are chinese fakes apearing it might present a problem with authenticity.

So I got My Ace Vos today, I really like it alot. the aged one seems diffrent of course and I like it, but Im sure the Vos will grow on me. Im sorta used to the aged signed one at the moment. I played the Vos for awhile seems cool, but need to play it more. It seems all good so far but need to inspect it more closely. Its number 50 and my signed Ace is 49 so thats pretty cool.

No way man!!! Fake, no stamp.. Tell Gibson, It is not an authentic ACE guitar without the stamp.. That's where ACE gets his MOJO.. Send it back. Have a southern hottie come to your house with the stamp and apply.. You will not be able to sleep at night knowing your guitar doesn't have the stamp.. My #105 is deeply stamped proudly "MADE IN U.S.A", but has volume knobs that have a 3/4" gap under them... The serial number looks like I could rub it off with my thumb.. Damn Quality Control at Gibson.. Find the culprit and fire them. That's his/her only job.. Stamp the guitar with the stamp... I knew they rushed these guitars thru.. I actualy like it better without the stamp.. No stamp for you, come back, one year...

The top on your VOS is way better than mine.. You can see the three sections clearly.. Awesome.. :thumb: Look at the bridge and tailpiece on the Aged version.. Perfectly centered in the center piece of wood.. Look at the VOS.. Skewed left.. They can't even glue three pieces of wood together properly so the bridge and tailpiece are centered.. Hold on, I'll look at mine.. Mine is skewed left 1/4" too..

Yeah, lack of binding over the fret ends and no Made In USA stamp proves its a fake :laugh2: But seriously, this guitar is an Ace Budokan even if there was no COA or other stuff present with it. I mean, what else can a triple pickup Cherry Sunburst LPC with Norlin features be?

Look at some of the extra holes in yours.. They clearly look threaded.. Mine are just small pilot holes..

easy enough to fix that, just run a tuner screw through each of those holes once and they're properly threaded

Rudy,
That is what I have been thinking and I'm going to leave it as is.. With the sales receipt from Dave's and the build of the guitar there should not be any issues.. I'm going to let Gibson know they left it off and see if they can send me something to make up for it... Maybe a few t-shirts!

I looked at my R8 and guess the reissues don't have the stamp either..

If you are questioning it now what do you think a person looking to buy one in the future would think if he sees 3 with MADE IN USA stamp and yours without it? Which one would you buy?

I would be a little annoyed after spending a lot of $.

You're assming it's the only Ace out there with no Made In USA. It may be or it may be part of a group of them that never got that stamp. In either case the lack of or presence of that stamp doesn't prove or disprove it's authenticity. The guitar is obviously an Ace VOS :thumb:
