I need to record our band practices but don't want to get all involved with mic'ing, DAWs and all that. i need decent but not necessarily studio audio. Would prefer to do it with a stand-alone camera so we can not only hear how bad we sound, but also see how ugly we are.

Any suggestions?

Thanks...the Zoom seems to be the unanimous choice across the interwebs with regards to quality audio, which is most important...we can actually fix our sound, but we can't fix the ugly part...ordered the cam, accessory pack and ac adaptor for a hair over $200:acoustic:

Just know the Zoom Q2n is discontinued. Zoom doesn't support disco'd stuff for long. They make us pay to upgrade to a current generation at a discount.

Found this out the hard way. And at the time, they offered only built in batteries and nothing swap-able.

I still have a melted Q3HD. Alkaline AA Battery life was ridiculously short so I tried Nimh rechargeable and the thin vinyl wrapper tore and shorted inside and melted the case. Lots more power to heat!

Zoom has no spare parts.
