Hey, folks

Hoping someone here could help me out. I have a '70 Deluxe that was routed to humbuckers. The location of the neck route is incorrect (and poorly executed) and runs right up to the bottom of the fingerboard. I'd like to get the neck pickup back into the proper position by inserting a shim strip and having the cavity widened toward the bridge (that side of the route needs to be cleaned up anyway). Can someone provide the correct measurements for the location of the pickup cavities? Thanks in advance.

The minis and p90s did sit right up against the fingerboard, so that part of it wasn't altered. With humbuckers usually there is a small lip of wood so the pickup ring could sit on it, about 5mm or 3/16". For routed deluxes they usually just had corner bits glued in place so the screws for the rings had something to go into on the fretboard end. Needless to say, with a pickup ring around your neck humbucker, it will be in the right position as the ring will sit up against the fretboard end.

The other side of the rout should be located so that there width of a pickup plus perhaps 1/16" wiggle space with the ring attached. No more, or you will see the bridge side rout.
