Hi!
People can you tell me some more onformation on this guitar:
http://cgi.ebay.de/1978-Greco-EG800...cmdZViewItemQQptZGitarren?hash=item414c925c29
The auctions is ended but I can have it from another place.
The guitar is in perfect condition, dating from year 78.
What do you think?
I read eveyrthing I could find on Grecos and looking at this model it seems like a quality model. The owner is also telling me that the in the neck cavity you see a typical medium tenon, perfectly glued.
I dont know....:hmm:

Maple two piece top
Mahogany one piece neck

Well they are usually pretty good!
The 800s were the higher end models with one piece body and better hardware. Played a EGC600 for quite a while, great guitar, no complaints apart from the weight. It ouplayed my Gibson or any Gibson LP I compared it to. Very balanced dirty sound and perfect craftsmanship.
If it really is in mint condition, go for it!

BTW: The auction is still up and where the f*** is Bad Wurzach? :naughty:

Maybe you are the seller, you never know...hmmmmm
Why you say the weight is the problem?

No!
I am located in Cologne and I can assure you that I'm not the seller!
Mine was a white 1987 one with a baseball bat sized neck and a total weight of over 4,5 kg. Which was a little too much for my back. Anyway, the guy who bought it from me said that he really likes heavy guitars so I guess its a matter of taste and perhaps physical fitness... :D

On the headstock-pic you can hardly see that the neck is made of 3 pieces. I think it´s a Norlin-style built guitar:
- mahogany sandwich-body (pancake-style)
- 3-pc maple neck
- 2-pc solid maple top

I´m german too and asked the seller a question ´bout the body-construction. But the time is runnin´.

Until 1982 Greco sometimes took some higher grade leftover-parts to assemble their guitars. My 1981 EG-500 C 'Super Power'-series sunburst-model usually is a lower price-range model, but shows all the specs of a 700/800-series (1-piece mahogany body, 1-piece mahogany neck, real MOP-inlays, fret-edge-binding) except the 2-piece top.

I´m extremely happy with this guitar! The weight is 4.1kg . It plays wery smooth, the neck-profile is medium-to-fat. The acoustic-tone is very resonant, loud & powerful. I only changed the capacitors to old russian paper-in-oil-caps, changed the pot-knobs (originally black speed-knobs were installed) and replaced the broken neck-PU -ring. Otherwise the guitar is completely original. The tuners work smooth and very well. The PU-2 pickups are perfect if you like the sound of T-Top -equipped ´70s Les Pauls like me. This great guitar is a keeper! :thumb:

THAT WAS QUICK!! I immediately received the answer from the GRECO-seller. :applause: He confirmed that the guitar has a pancake-body & 3-pc maple neck + 2-pc solid maple top. So it is a 'real' Gibson NORLIN-era reproduction.

Ok, didn't know that they made pancakes in the early days. Thought that all Grecos were more based on the 'historical correct' late 50s/early 60s Gibson models.
For someone seeking a Norlin-Like MIJ thats probably a plus.
Anyway, nice information. Thanks for sharing that, mojotop!
