Hello, I come here because I have been on many forums about guitars and this seems to be the most knowledgable when it comes to tone and such.

Recently I will be receiving an ESP Eclipse II FR (I would have gotten the Gibson Les Paul Custom Axcess but I could not bring myself to spend that much for a guitar, plus I don't know how the burstbuckers would have been able to do when I decided to play Metallica and such.)

My main styles of music are Bon Jovi, Rush, Van Halen (The more classical hard rock,) while I enjoy playing music like older Metallica Master of puppets album, Dragonforce, SOAD (Heavier stuff) and I play cleaner stuff like Guns n roses Sweet child of mine.

Pretty much my question is what pickups should I get to replace the EMG's? Since my main style is classical hard rock instead of Metal I don't know EMGs would be the right choice... but I would need a pair of humbuckers that would be able to handle my main taste of classical hard rock, but still be able to play metal and the cleaner tone of the likes of sweet child of mine.

Thank you for your help!

I just ordered some Gibson Burstbuckers(1+2) today to get a good rock sound but they're probably one million options....

Might want to try the new SH-16 Hybrid for your bridge pup, it is in a league all it's own tonewise, aggressive and vintage at the same time, complex and multi-dimensional overtones, harmonics from hell, I love these things.

The deal with them is using mismatched coils they don't cancel out things that a straight up humbucker cancels, you lose some tone qualities with closely matched coils but these have enough difference that you get single coil type highs, and a PAF beefy bottom, and they match quite well with vintage style neck pickups.

It's like having the output of a JB, and the beef of the Pearly Gates, definitely PAF on steroids, you kinda got to try one to appreciate it, reading about it only gets you psyched to want one but they deliver in a wickedly fine style....

This is an 8yr old thread on the SD users forum, Seymour now makes this pickup as a production item, you can find them easily under $90 on the bay:

Edit: These things absolutely slam the EVH/Frankenstein pickup, I tried them side by side, the EVH had no chance at all...

Bareknuckle Nailbombs? They ARE pretty high output but they'll do anything.
Someone on the BKP said they'll do anything "from Pink Floyd to Pantera".

Gary Moore Tribute - YouTube

That's Sam Coulson playing blues with them. Sounds more than fine to me!
