Anyone every change the name of their band?

I'm currently in a four man cover band. Drums, bass, electric guitar, lead singer front man that strums an acoustic off and on. Just a group of weekend warriors with day jobs. I've gigged in bands off and on since the late 70s and I must say, we put on a pretty good show.

Only problem is, the name of our band is "Acoustic Edge".

The singer and I used to be in another band together. That one was drums, bass and two electric guitars and the lead singer. That band was run by the other guitar player. We gigged about three times a month.

At one point the singer was out of work and decided to try and pick up some acoustic gigs on weeknights for extra work. He hooked up with another guitar player and started landing a few acoustic gigs. He just came up with "Acoustic Edge" on the spur of the moment.

He said he was sitting at the kitchen table with his wife trying to think of a name for his acoustic gig. He told her, "We're not quite country, we're not quite Southern Rock, we're not quite Classic rock. We're just on the edge of each". His wife just said, "Well, there you go. You are on the Acoustic Edge".

He was always straight up about the whole thing. Our band came first and he only booked acoustic gigs on nights that the band wasn't booked. Well then, the other guitar player, running the band, started getting all paranoid, thinking the singer would leave us in a lurch. That's a whole other story, but he ended up canning the singer and replacing him with a female lead singer.

That's when I got fed up with that band and decided to give it up. It turned out, the drummer, the bass player and myself all quit on the same day without even knowing it.

In the meantime, our old lead singer was getting a lot of gigs as Acoustic Edge. After a while, they even added a drummer. It seemed weird, with two acoustic guitars and a drummer but it was surprisingly good. Then I started sitting in with them doing back up and fills on an electric guitar.

We eventually added a bass player, and started gigging out every weekend with a full electric setup. Now we show up and slam the place with a full on assault. Anyway, we've had a loyal following since it started out as an acoustic duo and no one ever really questioned the name since they were all there from the start. We mainly gig about every weekend around the east side of Cincinnati.

Now, since branching out into new venues and territories where people don't really know us, the name is becoming a bit of a hindrance. We've all been talking about changing our name, but none of us can decide on anything new.

What would you think of a full on electric band named "Acoustic Edge"?

We get a lot of people that finally come out to see us and tell us how great we sound. They say they never showed up before because they weren't in the mood to listen to an acoustic act. We've even had places book us, thinking we were an acoustic act and we show up with thumping subs and drums and shake the house down. They were a little scared at first, but then they came around. :D

I've racked my brain trying to come up with new names, but no one can seem to agree on anything that hits the mark.

Any ideas?

How about linking us some of your music? That could help in figuring out an appropriate name.
