I recently bought a heavily used 1990 Les Paul Studio, and I'm having some issues. When I played it at the store, it was fine, but when I took it home and played it with my other guitars, something was off. Over time I've realized my $100 squire strat feels better than my Les Paul. Picking is easier as well as bends (although that's just the scale length) and the frets are smoother. My les pauls frets seem very worn, but playable. I don't know if polishing them would help the frets feel better, but it bugs me that I have dead frets sometimes and my pos strat does not.
Any tips on how I can make my LP feel like it should? I've been considering a re-fret but I want to try and avoid it because those are quite expensive. Anything is helpful and appreciated!
Edit: I forgot to mention, the fretboard on the lp feels really oily sometimes and my strat is very dry, any ideas on how to dry a fretboard?
