Hey all, I'm new to the world of les paul even though i've been lusting after the guitar for a yr finally got my hands on some cash and went out and bought myself an epi les paul standard. 2009 made in china. Now here's the problem. I'm running this baby through a Line 6 Spider III 15 (i know i know they suck) and yea the sound is not what i really...expected per-say. Now I'm in the market for some new amps! anyone got any good suggestions? thanks,

Check Epiphone Valve Jr series - they give you good valve sound and are in good prices.

I agree. Valve Jr. are fantastic value, especially if you get it used. IMO, nearly the best practice amp for the price.

Epi Valve Junior
Fender Pro Junior
Fender Champ 600
Gretsch G5222

If you want something bigger, get a used Peavey Classic 30 or a used Peavey Delta Blues.

I kind of want an Epiphone Blues Custom 30. Gotta try one first. Though there isn't any store in the area here which has the amp.
For what I've seen/heard/read so far I think it's a very good amp.

Amps are all different. I can't know what it is you wanted or what you expect from an amp, so you really need to try them out to find out.

A guitar store near me has one, and I wanna try it out too. I own an Epiphone Triggerman with an Eminence speaker and it is by far the best sounding solid state amp I've ever played through. I wanna try that Epiphone SoCal halfstack too.

I mean I'm the kind of player that enjoys every type of music so im looking for that all around sound an amp that can give me a lot of options so im not stuck with one type of music.

I'm picking up a Roland Microcube for a practice amp, check them out! It can't do anything outside the bedroom though, way too small for gigs, but it is quite versatile for its price

Fender Vibro Champ or Super Champ XD. the vibro is 3 watts and the super champ is 15, they both are in your price range. I have the Vibro and it is amazing

Regardless, what you think sounds good is entirely dependant on you and you alone. There's tons of amps to recommend, as you might notice you're already getting a lot of different make and model recommendations - not one of them is the right answer; None of them are wrong, either. Get my point?

Just take your time, drift around in music stores and try absolutely everything. Play your current amp enough to figure out what it is you're lacking, and listen for those things in the amps you're trying out.

I have a Fender Pro Junior, 15 watt tube but plenty loud for rehersals and small gigs on its own and most larger places through a 4x12, if not just mike it through the front of house!

Only downside is way way too loud for home use without the power soak
