Hello, MLP guitarists! I'm Adrian, from Romania, Eastern Europe - Count Dracula's country, to get a quicker reference. I'm a guitar player and a Les Paul fanatic. I am also a Ph.d. student. My Ph.d. thesis deals with the Rock Music phenomenon (only a few aspects, of course) and will emphasize on the lyrics of some influential (from my point of view) rock artists (Dylan, Hendrix, Morrison, Zappa etc.). Since it's quite difficult to find the bibliography here, in Europe, I'm looking for a kind, patient MLP member who could help me get the books (+a pick or two :D)I need, from Amazon, or other book sites that won't ship to my address. Basically, I need someone who could receive the package (books) that I order from Amazon and ship them, by post, to me. I will take care of all the expenses.
Thank you in advance and I hope you won't find my request odd or intriguing.

A short list of books I need for the time being:

1.ABC of Reading (New Directions Paperbook) - Pound, Ezra

2. Down and in: Life in the Underground - Sukenick, Ronald

3. Gulcher: Post-Rock Cultural Pluralism in America (1649-1993) - Meltzer, Richard

4. Like a Rolling Stone: Bob Dylan at the Crossroads - Marcus, Greil

5. Song and Dance Man III: The Art of Bob Dylan - Gray, Michael

6. The Beats: A Literary Reference - Theado, Matt

7. The Performing Self: Compositions and Decompositions in the Languages of Contemporary Life - Poirier, Richard

8. The Poetry of Rock - Goldstein, Richard, editor

Id do it in exchange for 4-5 mail order Romanian chicks. Brunettes, thin with huge boobs is the only requirement. My wife only digs chicks with big 'uns, but again no fatties and no blondes.

If you trust me enough to pay for shipping to your address via Pay Pal Gift I'll do it for you.

No extra $ tacked on for the hassle... No need to pony up with an Email Romanian Hawty Bride (I like the one I already have and she has a Green Eyed monster like you've never witnessed).

PM me

I assure you there's nothing fishy about my request.

Try Amazon.com.
Already did that. This is what I get every time I proceed to checkout>
"We're sorry. This item can't be shipped to your selected destination. You may either change the shipping address or delete the item from your order."

:laugh2: I think you and your wife should take the next flight to Romania.:D

I'll go out on a limb here, and say he may have referenced "the Count" for our benefit. Any Romanian will know the real Dracula, Prince Vlad was not a old guy in a tuxedo, but rather a real life prince and a national hero... and an honest to goodness tough guy. He kept the Turkish empire at bay, virtually single handed.

Check abebooks.com and half.com - I used them to purchase a lot of the books I needed in my PhD program and the prices can be quite good. They are used books but if you check the descriptions you can get them in basically brand new condition for significantly cheaper than you would other places.

And why not try British retailers like Foyle's, Waterstones, Hatchards, etc. as I am sure they would ship to Europe?

As for Amazon - you should check their European site (link below) instead of amazon.com which is their American site (the American one won't even ship to Canada and we have to use the Canadian Amazon site).

Naughty boy, history was and still is one of my favorites. I'm not that ignorant. It was only meant to get a clue where Romania is. Most of you will make a quicker connection to the Hollywood character rather than Vlad Țepeș, the XVth century Romanian leader (vaivode). Assuming things might get trickery sometimes.
Yet, I appreciate your comment, I like people who know more than the Hollywood culture.:thumb:

So you want to be a "Rock Doc?" Cool!

As for financial help for your books, I know this Nigerian prince that I'm sure would love to help. Let me see if I can find that link.

AddRein, my daughter #2 spent the last two summers in Cluj, working at the National Science Museum and at an excavation site on a scientific project studying remains of Bronze Age folks.

Humor is lost on you, isn't it.

:D

I am completely aware that you believed my comment to be in response to Daniel's post. But, it wasn't. Ergo, I qualified my statement.

PS I have one of the drollest senses of humor you may ever encounter. It just does not translate well in print.
