NAMM New Slash combo amp

Marshall's new 5-watt Slash 1x12 combo is switchable down to 1 watt for bedroom volumes, is Class A, all-tube with 3 12AX7s and an EL84. It has two footswitchable channels and footswitchable reverb.

It's actually an EL34 with a 12 inch V30 speaker.

Well.. the 1w heads and combos were a lot more than that being made in the UK. If this was made in the UK then it would be closer to the $1800 that the AFD100 was going for. They won't sell many units at that price.

Does it really matter where it is made? Chances are your tv, phone, computer and most of your electrical appliances are made with Chinese components. The warranty is with Marshall and is the same warranty as on a UK made amp. Statistically you are no more likely to have a problem with a large manufacturers product being made in China vs anywhere else.

This isn't some startup home made amplification company. It's a large corporate entity with quality control in place to ensure that customers stay happy.

Bring it on. Regardless of the Slash signature on it, this along with the 1w units and the new DSL range, is exactly what Marshall needs to be doing to develop and grow it's user base.

50w is the power consumption of the amp not the power output. It's what is drawn from the mains, not the sound output power level.

Yeah, they can bring the Chinese components to Milton Keynes and charge twice as much for it or they can have them assembled in China, making them affordable for the target market.

That's the choice.
