I caught part of this song the other day on the radio - Foreigner - Long, Long Way From Home.

From their first album in 1977.

Always liked the guitar in it, and the melancholy slant of the song.
I hate saxophone, but it's not bad here.
I hate synths - and I have more trouble with that cheesy sh!t as the years go by.

Said something like this to a buddy of mine who was with me.
I mentioned the "oink" like a pig sound of the bass part.
He said "Yeah, Fender Rhodes keyboard."

Huh? :hmm:

35 years now, I've just presumed that "oink, oink, oink" was done on a bass guitar.

He says he's pretty sure it's a Fender Rhodes.

I know shit about keyboards.

Anybody know what that sound is made with?

Nah...

The closest thing to squealing like a pig in that song is the fxcking saxophone.

This is a definite "oink."

Ed Gagliardi played bass on that song - no Rhodes. Sounds like his bass was plugged straight into the board and mixed twangy.

"Waiting For A Girl Like You", "Urgent", & "Juke Box Hero" had the Rhodes, played by Mick Jones.

Yeah - that's what I always thought.
I mean, it's funny to have a good, solid bass line and then add another bass for Da Funk of it.
Especially in a song that is decidedly un-funky.

Oh well, I still like the song all these years later.
And I'm still a Foreigner fan.
It's a shame - Mick Jones can fxcking rock when he wants to, but he seldom does.

Sounds like a Clavinet to me.

I think that's the instrument too.
