Thanks again Randy! I am enjoying it. The amp sounds just great. I cant believe the volume and tone it has.

When I said that it is not a bedroom amp I didn't quite mean what I said. It sounds great at low volumes. What I should've said, was that its sweet spot for me is loud. The amp truly sounds sounds awesome with the master at 12 o'clock. I should not have said it is not a bedroom amp. It can absolutely do low volumes. I think I was just blown away by its volume and tone. I was trying to point out that it is loud.

This is the first amp that Ive owned that when I roll back my guitars volume to clean up, the life isn't sucked from the sound.

What I really like is that this amps sound can be changed pretty drastically by adjusting your attack. I play pretty hard and the harder I play, the better it sounds to me. The other side of the coin is it responds just as well when playing softer with the volume rolled back.

Heck no!! I couldn't be happier with it. The WGS speakers sound real good by the way. Thanks again for all of your advice.

Ha! Got you fooled! :laugh2:

Enjoy the new toy. Glad the speakers sound good too.:thumb:
I still love mine...probably more than the day I got it.

Here it is in the cab. I stopped playing long enough to put it in yesterday.

Dat right there is one little "grab and go" powerhouse. You walk into a gig with that and people will ask..."your gonna do this gig with THAT little thing. Then when they hear it, it will go like this. "How many watts is that? Who builds them? How much was it? Wow, I gotta get one of those."

The end.

My thoughts exactly. A sleeper for sure!

Ain't it loud for 18 watts? Seriously, mine is as loud as the 35 watt Asheville through the same cab. But after 5 (out of ten) on the master there really is no volume left, it's all thick, chewy, buttery, power tube OD. I hear people say an overdriven EL84 sounds fizzy, or like "a can of bees", but I don't get that at all from the JTM.

As far as the tone stack? bass 3...treble 4...mid 7...mod switch is usually "on"...... boost is set to halfway on the knob usually, then I use the foot switch or the toggle, depending.
At home the master is at 2.5 or 3, and the gain at 5. When I go somewhere I can turn it up the tone stack stays the same, as does the boost, but the master goes up and the gain goes down. I think I go through all the settings in the vid.

I was shocked. thats why I said its not a bedroom amp. Its loud with the master at eight o'clock! Obviously, Its not as loud as the 100 watters Ive had ,but for the most part, I very seldom was able to turn those up to the sweet spot. The JTM is giving me all the volume I need, AND great tone at volumes that aren't shaking the house. Loud but usable loud.

One of my favorite things about the amp is how nice it sounds at lower gain. Totally professional sounding.

One regret: I should have had him do the boost on a foot switch. I like it on and off. With it off, it does a great early Angus.

If it makes you feel any better, the foot switch does add some noise. More at my house than anywhere else because of the open grounds. I use the toggle mostly.

I think a good alternative, will be the right overdrive pedal, with the gain on the pedal set set low. Not so worried about it just yet. Still on the Honeymoon.

Just for fun, this morning I tried my sons Boss Metalzone through it. It nails the hairband 80s sound.

I dont think the guy I got my Lopo from put any hours on the WGS speakers. They seem to be sounding better the more I play. Oh what fun!

I use Lyle Caldwell's Telose pedal. I use the clean boost on it, as well as the "soft drive" mode, which is a "dirty-ish boost. I also use the full blown OD setting on the pedal, and I engage both sides at the same time for a high gain sound. I do all of this with the gain set at 4 or 5, and the amp just loves it....sounds great.
You are right about having the boost off, great early ZZ Top...Brown Sugar...Francine...Mexican Blackbird....you know the drill.
