So I was about to order a new speaker for my Fender DDRI and came across this. I have heard only very good things about these amps and the price was very right, so I had to do it. Guess the new speaker (now 2!!) will have to wait.
First impressions after about an hour are tremendous. Very very warm, organic tone. Low end is incredible. Doesn't cut through like my DRRI, but much of that could be the speaker, as I have read is not exactly doing it any favors (Original Rola). Reverb & Trem are beautiful. I will give a more complete review after some more quality time, but I can't believe these are not more popular.

Sorry, tried to upload pics but having trouble. Will figure out and post them as soon as possible. It's a 65 or 66 Ampeg Gemini I.

Nice - where'd you find it? Looking forward to the full review.

I think your Strat is missing a couple of parts.

Nice! I'm a big vintage Ampeg fan. My Mecury sounds amazing with a Celestion Blue in it. Especially the ones with the octal preamps have "corpulent" fatness, but very mild on the top end, so if you're looking for something to "cut through the mix", these aren't the amps that come to my mind.

I know this will never be a Deluxe Reverb - and I don't want it to be. I guess I shouldn't have said that in comparison to the Fender. I play mostly blues so the voice of this is exactly what I want - I believe. But the speaker, from what I hear and what I have read, is not exactly top notch. Something I will deal with once I have a better handle on what the amp really is and how I am going to use it.
It seems like those who are into the vintage Ampegs are really into the vintage Ampegs. I am starting to see why. It's just so musical for lack of a better word.

Nice...local guy has one on CL.

$275 GV-22.....1-10 looking at the pics I'd say 6/7, it's a '69 with original speakers.

Interested, but don't know how much I'd like to get involved in a restoral....although he claims it plays perfect.

Even has original footswitch.
