N.G.D. Les Paul Special

I got this today. It's very difficult to photograph. I replaced my 62 RI strat with this. I really didn't get on with the Strat. I think the Special plays a lot better.

The colour is Vintage Cherry Gloss. Bound Rosewood fretboard (I've never seen a bound board on a Special before)

I have a few upgrades planned for it.

First will be vintage 50's wiring with good PIO caps and CTS pots.

Pointer washers will be added with black top hats with Silver inserts

I'm removing all the chrome hardware and replacing with
Faber Nickel Gloss ABR with Nashville conversion posts
Faber Nickel Gloss Tone Lock studs
Faber Nickel Gloss Stop Bar

I'm undecided on the tuners, I have not seen a Special with these Kluson tuners before, they are normally the strip type with small white buttons. I think I will replace with Grovers. I think Grovers will fit right in without any mods to the headstock.

In time, I might also change the pickups to Bare Knuckle Blue Notes, but I'll give the Gibson P90's a damn good go first

I have to admit that this guitar is very confortable to play, it has the 60's slim profile neck.

In the US, this model was GC exclusive. I have the same guitar and a 62RI strat.

If you try you can get strat-like tones out of the special.

Yes, it does have a belly relief.

I bought it from Guitar Village, I am pretty sure they had two, one sold before they could get the photo on their website and obviously I bought the second.

It's beautiful the way it is. I wouldnt change a thing. I love the binding on a special, and the glossy finish

Don't swap out the pups till you've given them a good hearing. Those P-90s are fantastic.
