I just picked up a case from a garage sale, and my googlefoo has me speculating that it's an early 70's Les Paul case with a pair of tarback/super humbuckers. I uploaded a gallery here: tarbacks & old case - Imgur

Each pickup has two braided wires, no identifying marks. The case says "make in Canada" which is washed out on the compartment tag. There's some lettering on the handle, but I can't make it out.
Anyone know what I've got? Thanks!

I'd say the case is a 90's TKL aftermarket case rather than a gibson OEM one.

Tarbacks for sure. Just had a gold one like that go bad. They are hard to find and cannot be fixed what do they read on an ohmmeter?

what do they read on an ohmmeter?

Hopefully I'm reading this right, but each pickup has TWO braided wires.
neck pu (short lead): 16.96 ohm
neck pu (long lead): 8.50 ohm
neck pu (hot to hot): 8.43 ohm
bridge pu (short lead): 16.81 ohm
bridge pu (long lead): 8.30 ohm
bridge pu (hot to hot): 8.53 ohm

Also, all the tarbacks I've seen depicted have a single braid wire, both of mine have two. What's the diff?

I think they split the coils.. So each braided wire is one coil.

A flat topped case?!

That be great for a LP special or Junior.

On those epoxy/tar backs... Do you just solder the two braids together and the two hots together and install as usual for each each pickup?
