I owned a TH59 and the neck profile was not comparable to a vintage 50s LP. Some of the CCs I've owned have been better but my DJ makeover was the most accurate. The TH guitars I've played are nice but the neck profiles aren't accurate. I don't get why Gibson can't seem to get the necks closer to a vintage burst.
ding ding ding ding ding!!!!!!! They are on the 'high' average size for the 59 year and are probably based off ONE actual 59 that has a larger than usual neck that they scanned for dimensions. They are for sure NOT using the 59 neck average on these. When my vintage 57 special neck is smaller than my TH 59 neck, something is wrong if you ask me.
I had a Shanks at two different times. Nice, but Louis had my favourite neck profile. The one I had had a nice soft V. It was perfect. Not sure if they all have that, but mine sure did. My Duane was nice too.
the only thing I can attribute it to (with the hit or miss) is that's what was done in the 50's so that's what they're trying to replicate. However, as I've said many times, that's fine on reissue runs but on CC or artist runs where they have the real original, every single one should be within .010 of each other. With CnC's now, it should be a hell of a lot closer.
Shanks necks were really consistent. I also liked the CC17 Louis neck, but wasn't a fan of the pickups but it was a nice playing guitar though. Just didn't need another dirty faded lemon! It did have a soft V but I only played one of those.
