Be with sis..we are not like cars. Plug a code reader in..find error code..replace part..
It seems some hospitals ascribe to that theory unfortunately..

Be strength for her..

Some sort of miscommunication between the doctor, a nurse and the PT.

If they broke my sister, I'll be applying some "Physical Therapy" of my own brand.
Commonly called malpractice, not miscommunication.

Well, I can give an update. She's stable, they put a stint in her heart, she's out of ICU and in a room, but closely monitored and watched. She's black and blue alll over from the trauma earlier, but I expected that.

There's other BS to deal with between her, my brother and me concerning her estate, accounts, etc . Basically at odds with our brother who's the eldest, so she can keep control over what's hers, which I support.

I'll be down here a couple more days, then it's back to work tp finish up some long-overdue guitar work.

I'm glad your sister is doing better Dave. If I were you I would advise her when she is well to get a advice directive and Will made out asap with an executor of her estate in place.

The family stuff can be a real bitch.

As for her care, every patient with serious needs, really needs an advocate who is on top of his/her care (someone to crack the whip on doctors and nurses). When a patient lacks and advocate...the squeaky wheel gets the oil. I have actually considered building a business plan to provide patients with advocates.

When my dad was critical and in dire need of an MRI (or CAT scan -don't remember which), he was delayed for a few days (I was out of town) due to a line to get to the machine. When I returned, I calmly laid out the situation to the Dr. and his team (i.e. he's dying and needs this asap). I told them exactly what the family expected (and reminded him that he had been on staff on said hospital for 40 years): an MRI, "today" and that I didn't give a flying fuck how many non-critical people were in line ahead of him. I then added, "If you think I am tough, my little sister is flying in on her broom tonight, and tomorrow, she'll start collecting scalps." He got his MRI that evening.

If God didn't want you to step on their toes, he wouldn't have given them feet.

I wish you both the best and sympathize with your challenges.

God speed.

Dave,

These days, hospitals do a much better job of caring for patients in a non-medical way. Helping people sign up for insurance, getting new babies their social security number, etc. So there may be a person there who can help her make decisions regarding living wills, healthcare powers of attorney, proxies, whatever.

See if they have a patient care advocate or legal liaison or a similar position. Good luck and best wishes.

Peace

Rex

I'll be home sometime tomorrow. We got everything pretty much legaled-up. I'm so friggin far behind in what I have to do in the shop, it ain't even funny.

But she's doing better. This is what's important.

But her lifestyle MUST change immediately. The combination of her diet and remaining rather sedentary is what caused this.

It's going to be WORK. And she's not going to like it. But if a regimen is followed, she will prevail.

-She doesn't want "Brother Dave's Boot Camp", that's for sure. She has to start off with baby steps. But baby steps and progress every day must happen.

Thank you all so much for your support, understanding and kind words. They meant everything. I truly know who my friends are around here.

:applause: Cool beans, my friend! Glad she is better, you are more at ease, and you can finally get back to the compound....

YOUR baby steps would be a leisurely stroll with two truck flywheels in the pack instead of four....

You have to run up a mountain, BUT, you get to walk back down, so there’s that.

Glad to hear things are looking up Dave, that’s great news.

Get that ruck back on amd double-time back dowm that mountain, most ricky-tick.

And if edro falls out, you're humpin his ruck.
