I finally had to let her go... traded my black SG standard and under $1000 in cash for this baby brand new. (I picked up the Sg for $700 a couple months ago) I must say the guitar sounds 10x better than the SG. Maybe its mostly the pickups..... I still have my sister in law, a red SG standard, and now I think I want to put burstbuckers in it. I'm thinking of going with gold hardware on this Les Paul, so hrmmm I guess I'd have a spare set of burstbuckers to put in the SG....

What do you guys think about going for the gold?

And just in case.. this picture was taken by the guy I bought it from, so if you happen to see an ebay auction.. I really do have the guitar, just not as good of a photo!

It's a very beautifull top!
I prefer nickel hardware, but I think gold in this case will look great!!

I always prefer chrom/nick as well, but the amber knobs made me think of the gold. And gold does look good with black.

How about:

Gold tone pro tunomatic (ABR-1)

Gold Sperzels open back if I can find them
Gold Grover imperial
Gold Grover vintage open back

Gold pickup rings with gold burstbuckers.

Gibson gold reflector knobs

Maxima gold strings

no!!! leave it alone...its gorgeius as it is already...

I'll be leaving it alone and just playing it for a while, but I HAVE to change the tuners at least, I can't stand the GREEN GOBLINS.

Have you tried the 60's neck? I supposed you probably have, but its actually not that thin. Then neck on my 1993 SG standard is considerably thinner. but I bet if you like those beefy 50's necks....

My SG is almost too thin, this thing is just right. I don't have very long fingers, and the scale and shape feels right for me. But yes not for everyone... I didn't know they only came in 60's profiles.
