My new R8 Gloss Flametop

Here are some photos of my new 2008 R8 Gloss Flametop Solid body.

This is from a limited run of extra bodies that were not needed for the 50th Anniversary Murphy model. Beautiful top-8.89lbs...sounds GREAT, looks just like a R9 but the price was way less.

It also comes with a triangle case, looks like a modified V case, kinda cool, different.

I got it from Wildwood Guitars and my old friend Steve treated me right on it.

I compared it to my 2008 R9 VOs and the R8 neck is slightly bigger, aside from that they appear to be the same...they actually nearly sound the same. If you didn't know it was a R8 you'd think it was a R9

I wanted a gloss R9 but with the price increase this R8 was about $1400 less than the price on a new Gloss R9.

Plus with the Flame top and triangle case this R8 is different. I kinda like that!

I love Honey Burst..and I was disappointed that the Historic line didnt have it...but it turns out Ice Tea is actually Honey Burst, since Ice Tea on the USA line has black and red ect..

Yes. Gloss is glossy, meaning the entire guitar and hardware is polished nice and shiney. VOS is dull, gunky, and "aged" looking metal hardware.

Hi Rod...the Skatterbranes are coming out of my R9 and going into this R8

Right now my R9 with the Skatterbranes sounds better but I'm sure that with the the PU swap the R8 will be excellent.

I really like the slightly fatter neck on the R8, I have big hands.
