Thanks! Listen to my Randy Rhoads stuff? I see you're a fan!
That I am. I was just listening to Dee. I liked that one quite a bit too. D.O.A.M. was a little hard to hear but sounded good as well.![]()
Hey, Gibson_Ed. One good turn deserves another. Thank you for the very graceful posts in my crazy thread.
Terrific playing, man. Haven't listened to them all ... but the Eruption cover, I'll never be able to handle gain like that, wonderful. And in the first track, very interesting ... the Les Paul, with active pickups and a strange effect, shaping the notes, sounds like something quite touch sensitive ... even with that stuff - things I'll likely not ever use - the natural sound of your guitar, the characteristics of a great Les Paul (which I think have to be played out of the guitar - not as easy as many think, I think), those layers of tone and the acoustic sound, or the illusion of the acoustic sound, the way it responds to nuances of touch, both controlled and uncontrolled - all that stuff, it's totally there in that track, and you're playing it great.
Thank you for listening. The strange effect you're hearing, I think, is a combination of the Les Paul's active EMG "Zakk Wylde" pickups, a Dunlop Crybaby wah wah on the floor, and a little reverb on my little Marshall MG30dfxs combo. Another contributing factor, I think having to do with the sound or effect heard in the videos, is that I'm playing and recording at an extremely low volume as I live in an apartment. So you hear the sound coming out of the amp, along with the actual ambient sounds of the pick hitting the strings and the strings themselves.
Interesting, it sounded like an autowah.... nice pedal control
I was surprised by the tone of the emg's as well played clean. Nice phrasing, very well done. Still listening to the others![]()
