m,Teles are a " tight" guitar, thus, you MUST loosen up,more movement in picking hand, roll off vol and tone to " liking" ......Teles always sound kind crap in my hands (only played a few), yet everyone else seems to get that tele “meat”![]()

As if this makes sense......
that's a very reverend looking yammy. my first real guitar was a yamaha SG back in the mid 80s, great value for the $$.
Everything Yamaha makes is very good IMO.
m,simple rule, hit a chord unplugged ,should ring a long time ,there is alot that can go wrong with a guitar, just doesn't " gel". The Tele I just bought, did not plug it in,played Jumpin Jack.....felt it in my gut....yes,a winner....this happened with 80 % of my gits,Hell,my Orange Strat and my Sg.....bought them off the wall.....still winners.....I think I understand…
Mine had the thin pressed metal bridge, and a maple fingerboard… it was “plinky” and thin…
I think a more substantive bridge would’ve helped
There may well be a an R4 coming up for sale soon…@matthew bear I would be more than happy to give your Les Paul guitars a happy home. Please let me know where to send the adoption papers. L O L.
An LP is still my #1. I like 'em thin like a Custom Lite. Everything just feels right to me on this one...and the tone is hard to beat. It even has the 9 hole weight relief.

It always seems to draw a little extra out of my playing that I didn't know was there.
FWIW: The original "Custom Lite" was produced '87- '89, then re-issued for a few years in the 2010's. So there plenty of them out there. They aren't necessarily light in weight though.Looks awesome! The Lite version would probably solve most of my current gripes about the LP.
They should bring those back![]()
Deft,I was drunk for weeks,Old FEZZ #1 was dying,I bought a salmon Custom lite with Emgs.....then two weeks later band died.....vulture came and bought my gear....sold Custom lite for $350 and a case of beer.........90's were fun.FWIW: The original "Custom Lite" was produced '87- '89, then re-issued for a few years in the 2010's. I have three of the thin body LP's and only one is a "Custom Lite." The one pictured is a 2014 "Standard 120 Light Honeyburst" This one is actually pretty lightweight. 7.8lbs
This one is a 2021 "Classic Lite" Thin body, no weight relief, 8.6lbs

My point is don't assume they are lightweight just because they are called "Lite"

Deft,that is it,just put emgs in it. I was a fun drunk,baiting bikers,buying guitars I couldn't afford,wrecking cars.....drinking was the most fun....I miss being an alkie....maybe I'll start up again when I'm 65..."Sunset Metallic"
