nah I don't play 11's anymore. I used to on my LP but now I use 9's and 10's depending on scale length

I liked 11's when I was playing for 12 hours a day. These days I don't get to play that much.

I made the same change a few years ago and regret nothing.

I did throw a pair of 11’s my brother got me for xmas on my new edwards LP a few days ago and like them. For the extra effort in making a bend, the extra tension is also kind of nice for holding a bent note. They do sound a bit boomier too which is kind of cool.

I’m probably going to switch it to flatwoinds next string change. It’s fun having some variety and with as many guitars as most of have there’s no harm.

I had a walnut firebrand Sg from early 80's,looked like a 70's,velvet brick pups,traded it for a 77 Les Paul goldie with 90's. Back when I sold/traded gits. No regrets,I was poor....not now....so guitar rich I need a whupping!

Tim, not my favorite but nearly so is my partscaster Strat that my kids bought me from a garage sale some 15 years ago for $200. It is mint with Tex-Mexnpups in the neck and middle and a Seymour Duncan Hot Rails (single coil size) in the bridge position. I have never tried any other Strats that I could even play.

Being sort of guitar rich is kind of fun. I have 10's on my PRS Mira, Ibanez and Les Paul, 10-48 on my McCarty 594, and 11-48 on my MIJ LP in Eb & the Special which is in D Standard though I may up that up a notch. I used to play 9s but now find them too thin, but I'm betting as I get older those strings will be getting more slinky.

Update:

I claimed earlier I loved this guitar bone stock, and that is basically true…

There is one mod I’d like to do, because I like the tone full up, and the push pull is a bit difficult to grab quickly to boost, I want to remove the tone, and put the “focus” on a switch in its place… I think that would effectively make this perfect (for me).

Not sure how to go about that, but I’ll be looking into it.
