I have 20 guitars,I rotate, one guitar cannot do all. I write simple songs, need complex tones. Mix and match. I love my guitars....they are magic .. they ALWAYS reveal....

I'll write a song,go into a " trance"...
.get info....what guitar, what amp, what pedal.....sometimes just one guitar track will do.

ART rewards dreamers. Right now, next to me at work is my Supro Black Holiday; my current work guitar........next month rotate....why not? My guitars need to be played.

Yamaha builds some killer stuff....for good prices.... Always thought Yamaha was one of the best bang for the bucks you pay ever, from the lower price to the top line stuff.... You know what you're getting with a Yamaha.... Electrics, acoustics, basses, keys, drums, horns, mixers, amps, yadda yadda yadda..... Incredible value....

Yamaha is one of the 'put on black painted shades' and prepare to be embarrassed when playing a Yamaha against other high dollar brands... I don't care which instrument....
I used a Yamaha G100 112II as my work horse after my Ampeg fried. Sounded good, light weight, rugged and flexible. If I needed more I could add a cab. Just a well thought out well built bit of gear. Now I use their THR amp at the house. They just make good stuff.

Nothing wrong with that! I do love many Gibson offerings...

Still love SG's, 335's, The RD (my favorite funky guitar), and fender also has many tasty offerings...
A Jazzmaster is on the bucket list.
Jazzmaster?

My friend, let me show you the evil JM. The bastard child of Gibson, and Fender, which sum is greater than all parts. The Dunable Yeti:

How are the less costly revstars in the $400 range?

My Favorite Guitar aint a Gibson...

Cool thread, got me thinking.

Yeah, I'm kinda there too, at least recently.

In the last 5 years or so, I've gotten into playing LPs after years of having almost exclusively Teles and a few Strats. Bought 60s & 50s Standards from new Original Collection and was sufficiently wowed. Then saw a 60s Unburst here in the classifieds and bought it from one of our best.

That Unburst immediately became my undisputed #1. Love at first sight and strum. And in the last few years have played her more than any guitar I've ever owned. Sold my 50s. Sold my trans cherry Classic. Sold all my Teles. They weren't getting any play time.

But recently, I got a couple of non-Gibsons that have turned out to be such solid players that I have to rethink my preference order.

They are both that good. Feel, tones outta this world. Both are more versatile, for me, than the 60s Std mostly because the 61 BBs are so hot.. edgy even. I tried tweaking the heights but I just like the Probuckers better. Heck, I prefer the 496r/498t I've got in my Goldtop Tribute better than the 61s.

That with the fact that I just like a slightly chunkier neck profile than the 60s. It's .80 at the 1st, kinda too slim. The '58 Black Beauty is perfect in my hands (.91 @1st) with Amos being super comfortable as well.

So it's 1. Black Beauty 2. Amos 3. Unburst

After this post, I think I just realized it's time to sell/trade the 61 BBs and get something in there that's better, for me anyways.

This post is a NGD post, but I felt it had more substance to it than that...

We all love the sound of an Les Paul, and many of it quirks and features, but when you spend some time away from them, it becomes VERY apparent how many things are a hindrance.

Namely, the weight, and the ergonomics of how your picking arm rests over the top edge. they are simply CLUNKY to handle after spending time with other (possible more modern) instruments.

Strats, are fairly ergonomic, but sound completely different, and I hate the volume knob being right up to the strings, SG's are very comfortable, light, but are sometimes prone to neck dive.

Modern guitar designs don't always seem aesthetically pleasing to us either, depending on your taste.

So, this is a guitar that is hitting all the plusses of the classic designs, while bringing in brilliant engineering (IMO)
It's become my personal unicorn guitar..

To me, this thing is PERFECT! I received mine a few days ago, and I love basically EVERYTHING about this guitar.

Full fret access, light weight, no neck dive, sounds like a Les Paul (there's a sort of boost circuit that really make that bridge pickup growl), and to me at least, looks really cool

It feels kind of similar to a Strat, with the tummy cut and a slight forearm contour, and sounds like a LP, and has fret access like an SG...

I have no desire to modify this at all, it's just so well executed and thought out... and sub 1k to boot!

So, that's my Les Paul killer... I don't want to play my LP's anymore :dunno:

Do any of you guys have a personal unicorn guitar? Something that makes perfect sense for your needs? What would you pick as a number 1 if you couldn’t go with the classics?
Yea, my Revstar Standard (like yours). for all the same reasons

I did change the tuners to locking, only because I prefer locking to not.

It IS my #1

Reviews are glowing. Quality is supposed to be same as Standards. The difference is the Standards, is essentially the Professional, except made in Indonesia, and missing the graphite rods in body, and the 'breaking in treatment" where they vibrate the guitar for a period of time. Same hardware, pickups etc.

Element uses different pickups and has no bling (binding , the better inlays). THOUGH some prefer the Dry switch over the Focus that the Standard and Pro use (I kind of do).

My first quality guitar was a Strat. As a matter of fact I didn't get a second guitar for close to ten years. That guitar -which I still own- essentially took me from 1st position cowboy chords to shredding so damn fast a camera can't capture it. (Who remembers *that* nonsense?)

When you only have one guitar for many years it becomes 'home' and everything after is judged against it.

I still have it and it's still my favorite. I'd be homeless and drag that 35 year old Strat with me.

Lots of import love here, I do love my Orville LP custom.

I think it’s worth noting, my number 2 is an SG classic. SGs are really excellent when they don’t dive. Stock p90s definitely get me there :D

Some beautiful instruments fellas, keep ‘em coming!
