I'm going to spontaneously go to work full time starting July 18th. I can't fathom the idea of sitting at home, so I'm going to earn a paycheck while I'm still in good health. This was always my plans no matter when I walked away from policing, so I get a ten-day break and back to work I go.

You can fit in a good bit of 'sorriness' before the 18th.... You earned it....

My wife is aggravated about the last photo and doesn’t like it at all. She had wanted one but wasn’t going to be home when I got off work, so the idea was scrapped which disappointed her.

I made a stop on the way home to pick up some guns and a fishing item was given to me to deliver to my brother. I dropped in on him on my way home to drop off his package.

While there I remembered the photo she wanted and had my brother take it. I had everything on my mind and simply stood in front of the truck without thinking about the crossed arms or remembering to smile. She says I look mad at the world. She’s right, it’s a crappy last picture, but my mind was a million miles away at the time. She says anytime I’m not smiling I look angry. It’s the pointy eyebrows that do it, but I always figured that helped me on the streets.
Looks fine to me.
I hate forcing a smile for a photo.

If you see me in a photo with anything other than "Resting Asshole Face"... it's natural and in the moment.

I don't have the words to express how difficult it has been for me to leave law enforcement, but my men made the two hardest days of my career the best I've ever experienced. I took one last photo of me and the truck and then took off the uniform for the last time. What a ride it was.

Yeah, I saw this one coming before the Day Itself arrived.

Hang tough, Scott. There IS life after police work. Swear to God!

Best luck, bro--

When I retired from the college system, I made a clean break. They tried multiple times to get me back as adjunct. Nawt. Not even....

It is one's own call but my view was 'I'm gonna do something else for a while.'

You only get one ride. Ride it with your hair on fire...
