A number of people in this thread, gave me great advice as to what to do. A few I decided were totally instrumental in my deciding what to do. I really listened. Reading back over comments there were some real gems, so thanks for the help.!

Restoring the gold top was, IMO, a great choice, as the existing top was never attractive and aged to become ugly. I hope the rear PU has been squared, as the installation there, at least as pictured, was a hack job. That is an amazing guitar with all kinds of atrtractive aspects, and fixing the really unfortunate elements should allow the basic instrument to emerge spectacularly!
