What do you think was the holy $hit moment for you music wise? What song were you listening to when you said I have to get a guitar because I want to be like that or play like that?

For me it was Detroit rock city in "76" I was about 11 or 12 and was completely in love with the idea of being the next Ace Frehley, it was the first time that harmonies hit me right between the eyes. I wanted to be a Rock God!

The Kiss Alive II tour was my first concert.:dude:

The song that did it for me was "Good Morning" off of Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.
I was already playing folk songs when I was little, and I saw The Yellow Submarine movie. I made my sister take me to the store to get that album, but they didn't have it - came home with Sgt. Pepper's instead.
When I heard the fuzzed out solo on "Good Morning" I freaked out.
I didn't know a guitar could do THAT!

When I realized Gibsons could be just as expressive as Strats. When I found beauty in music, and meaning, not just entertainment. I was already playing guitar by the time I heard it, but, just the same it was a holy $hit moment. One of several, but perhaps one of the most important, lasting, etc.
I give you... My Morning Song

They have some interesting parallels, I think.

I would say that KISS Alive made me want to be in a band (at like 6 years old). Then when Alive II came out, then I was gonna play guitar...

But the song that really got me was The Guardian by Fates Warning.

There never was one particular song,
But KISS "Rock And Roll Over" was my first record!
And then the evil powers of RAWK took over and it's been all downhill ever since...:dude:

All my guitar buddies laugh because I'm a big Garage/Early Punk guy but this was my moment. The perfect mix of melody and aggression with huge riffing thrown in too. Sitting in a backseat as a young brat listening to the radio... Still can't get that sound.

Whatever it was, I am pretty sure it happened in Budokan (Gillan, Kiss, Cheap Trick, Dylan, Pink Lady and Ozzy - to name a few).

Once upon a time, I was sitting in a long gone ex-girlfriends car listening to the radio as she was in the mall buying makeup... Tuned to 105.3 and this was playing... My jaw literally dropped, no words, just amazing heavy music, I thought it was from another galaxy, I had never heard anything like it. I hadn't heard Master Of Puppets yet, so I had no idea it was Metallica, I'm pretty sure that moment is what got me serious about music like that.

It wasn’t long after that that the same DJ, Ted Hawkins, played the song that was to change my life forever: “Do Ya” by the Electric Light Orchestra. In those days before Walkmans®, we carried our music around on what came to be called “ghetto blasters” or just “blasters”; and I was doing so one day in the park with our huge Sony, grinding my skateboard on the stair-rails when I heard this incredible sound pouring out of my speakers. I immediately stopped my riding, in fact, I almost fell, and I gave the radio the attention it commanded. The sound was unaccompanied electric guitar, three simple chords, and to this day it sends chills down my spine. It sounded like a thousand sheets of paper being ripped, in tune, like the fabric of the world itself being torn apart, this guitar did, punctuated by dead silence. It was the sound of my ears being yanked open.
