I can't even believe this is happening anymore, I honestly didnt see any racism in that ad, nor do I see half as much white on black racism which is being touted. I think we're learning to get along just fine and every once in a while it gets blown out of proportion and the extremists on both sides light the match.

I love the world but Im quickly growing to dislike it's inhabitants

They don’t hate receiving millions of our money, though :hmm:

shoot, if I was in a country that had trouble getting water everyday, I'd have no issue taking some money, but that doesn't mean I still wouldn't get pissed that that same country has "twitter wars."

we also don't have any issue with helping others, when imo, we can't really help ourselves.

What’s really scary about it,is how it’s coming from both sides, top down, bottom up....everything is now “ a trigger “. I see huge swaths of people kept in a perpetual state of anger for long periods of time. None of this shit is healthy, man.
Another thing that blows my mind is the amount of different people,of different ages and different races all saying that “. I don’t know what’s wrong, but, something is. I can’t put my finger on it. Can’t you feel it “?
That flat scares me right there....
Y’all know where I’m coming from?

It's the internet, big mistake, the world was much better off without it. Nothing can be done about it now, we're stuck with it. Civilization is in a death spiral.

Nah man,it would be different if we just gave money to those countries that appreciate it and can use. And trust me,it’s those countries that have no idea about “ Twitter wars “.
I can’t abide sending money to the countries who wish us harm and revel in all of our stupidity.
Just my opinion.

Was it much better off? Just 100 years ago, which is nothing more than a blink in history, World War 1 was winding down. Then World War 2 happened, then Korea, then Vietnam. I don't think all those millions and millions of people would have died if the internet had been around back then. Imagine the very intense scrutiny of world leaders back in the day if the internet had existed. Some of the real baddies never would have come to power, or got away with their immense crimes so easily. Sharing of information on a global scale in real time will help save this planet.

Mark Twain once said, in 1869 no less: "Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one’s lifetime.” You could replace the word "travel" with "internet" and it would be just as valid.

I could just throw up. Have we really become this nation? Holy shit!

https://www.nbcnews.com/news/nbcblk...r-better-ad-following-online-backlash-n860166

I was driving home the other day thinking about all this crap and it occurred to me that it must bother these people when someone in a Mercedes drives past them. Sooner or later they will demand that there be 5 or 10 basic body styles and any differences, branding or forms of manufacturing ID be confined to "Under the Hood Only" :) They are sooo fvcked in the head.

Let's make all prisoners wear suits, ties and wing tips too!!! lol AT our expense!! Ha

Divine died back in 1988, but has been something of a cult figure all along. If the person in the photo you posted is not the original Divine, then he, she, or it has gone to considerable lengths to look almost exactly like Divine.

I searched for photos of Divine and did not find that particular image. I figure that it's probably a photo of a Divine imitator.

I couldn't assume that he/she was a drag queen . but without reading the actual interview , I kinda figured

and why would you think that I would post a pic of Divine , claiming that it was someone from a local newsrag ? You of all people should know , that Truth can be much stranger than fiction :laugh2:

[QUOTE="Ginger Beer, post: 8621112, member: 64273 I'm not really surprised there is so much outrage here because I don't think there are more than three or four posters here who are even capable of understanding it

That’s not a nice thing to say about your Forum brothers.....,man,where would we be without your superior intellect!?!? :laugh2::laugh2::laugh2::laugh2::laugh2:[/QUOTE]

Outraged and butthurt over something you clearly don't understand at all would be my guess.

That's an interesting premise and, as usual, I do agree w Twain's thoughts. It is yet to be seen if the internet lifts us up or protects us from what you speak of in the long haul. I'm a natural cynic so I tend to say it won't change things that much and the take on it so far is mixed at best. Consider the sum effect it has had on media in general. I don't think it has ever been more obviously partisan but maybe I'm just more aware of it because of...the internet. The world is five blind men and an elephant.

I don't agree. It's one thing to read about a culture online -- from a source that may or may not be feeding you the truth, depending on their agenda -- and living inside that culture. Vastly different.

The Internet is one of those dark corners Twain was warning about, mostly. It has good qualities, allowing people to stay in touch, but it's like walking through a marketplace of ideas staffed largely by blowhards and know-nothings.

People that get offend have nothing better to do than to look for things that offend them.

That seems to be the norm these days.

Well guess what. No one gets out alive anyway. So in the end we are all equal..

Yup,like I said.....what we do without your superior intellect. Did you use it to come to this deduction?? Actually, I’m also shocked at the language you used!!! Butthurt!! Isn’t that the language of us lesser people!?!?

:D

These days, it pays not to assume much of anything, eh? :thumb:

I noted that you weren't willing to go there, C... and I was kinda tip-toeing around that shit myself. :laugh2:

Then too, I'm sure that we've both seen genuine, female-by-birth specimens whose appearance rivaled that of the example posted in your local newspaper. Remember Kathy Kinney, from the Drew Carey show?

latest

With this (and other) examples at hand, it seemed possible to me that what we had in your post may *not* have been a drag queen... :hmm:

Though as was the case with you, it seemed almost certain to me that the individual whose photo you posted was indeed a male in drag.

The resemblance to Divine was enough to make me wonder for a moment whether or not if that was Divine. I to look the famous DQ up before I became aware that Divine had passed away some years ago, however.

Which left only three possibilities: an old photo of Divine, a Divine-inspired drag queen, or a female such as the gal from the Drew Carey show-- who herself may also have been inspired by the rotund cross-dresser of yore... or at least, whose on-the-show character featured the same aesthetic sensibilities, as conjured by the show's writers and producers.

and why would you think that I would post a pic of Divine , claiming that it was someone from a local newsrag ?

Oh, I didn't think that you would post a pic of Divine while making some spurious or misleading claim. I know you better than that, my friend! In fact, it is your almost perfect lack of bullshitting that has caused me to favor your opinions so quite so often as you may have noticed I do. :thumb:

Instead, for all I knew the paper you're reading is full of shit! :laugh2:

You of all people should know , that Truth can be much stranger than fiction :laugh2:

Oh God-- yes!

My personal test on whether something is silly or not is this:

what do I loose by allowing a societal development?

If the answer is "nothing", then I consider it's win/win for everyone.
