So I am totally at home now with my Orange Tiny Terror Setup.
I decided to change my pedal inventory based on this amp.
1st up was selling everything but my black Russian Big Muff.
I ordered the MXR Boost because I liked the results Rob Chappers gets using it with his Orange amps in his Youtube videos. His Tiny Terror metal video setting are what I use when I can't crank it up too loud. I was using a Lovepedal Eternity or Diaz Texas Ranger in place of the MXR Boost but I felt both of those were not transparent enough to let the true TT's tone shine through.
So here are my 3 favorite settings for the living room
7 Watts- Vol 2 Treble- 6 Gain- Max
This is pretty much the Chappers TT metal video setting. With stock tubes this was fizzy, but with JJ's it isn't. Although I changed V1 to a NOS Mullard 12AX7 and it's killer in this amp.
15 Watts - Vol-7 Treble-5 (or 12 O'clock) Gain- very low 1 or 2
This is an awesome home clean sound, great with the neck pickup of my Les Paul
Using the clean setting I plug in the Big Muff...now I owned a ton of Big Muffs, but I don't know why but I like the Russian Big Muffs best. Supposedly the Green ones are better so I ordered a Green Sovtek high spec clone.
The TT doesn't really need pedals, the Muff on the clean isn't really harder or better than the "metal" setting but it's different and the amp takes it well. Just another flavor to play with.
I'm running a Lopoline Signature 1x12 (which I'll admit is not as good as a true Orange) with a 16 ohm Hellatone 30 (broken in Celestion G12H30). I will say this though, it's the same speaker thats in the open back TT combo and I would think this is a comparable setup to that at least....and the combos I've heard sound killer.
I'm curious what other TT owners are using...pedals if any....speakers/cabs....
and what tubes?
I'm still a little curious about other new production EL84's like the TAD STR and the "Mullard" branded Russian tubes.
