I'm looking for a footswitch to toggle the bank up feature on my GigRig G2, but I need something smaller than what GigRig offers.

The manual says you can use any momentary switch for it, but I want an LED on it to show me when I've toggled it on.

Does anyone make a small, micro momentary footswitch that has an LED on it? I'm looking for pre-made, or someone that can make this for me, any suggestions?

I can solder and follow directions, but I've never made a pedal before...

G2 manual (bank-up/momentary switch info. on page 15): http://www.thegigrig.com/usa/acatalog/G2 manual V3.pdf

Here's the G2 bank up switch for reference.

Boss makes one. They actually make two - unlatched (momentary) and latched. Don't know if this size is usable for you or not though.

You'd want the FS-5U:

I'm looking for something really small though. I don't have the space on my pedalboard for the Boss pedal.

Basically something the size of one of those tiny tap tempo pedals.

I emailed Loop-Masters about making one, but he said the momentary switch doesn't support an LED. :dunno:

You could build a relay switch using a momentary switch, then you could have an LED. Check tagboard effects website as there is a simple build guide for one.

I don't think this is exactly what you require but if you ask on that site they might be able to help, they are very clever!

I have to ask: If you have a switch that small and you have to step on it with your foot, are you going to be able to even see the LED? I'm not trying to be a smartass, it just seems like the LED won't be of any use on a very small pedal if your foot ends up cover the entire thing because of its small size.

I need the LED to stay on when you step on the switch and turn off when pressed again so I know if I'm in the upper bank of presets or not. Just a reminder basically.

Your best bet is to look into that link Brocko posted for you. Otherwise, if you want the LED to stay on, you'd need a latching switch.

If you ask nicely, I'm sure Brocko would help you build one, or even build one for you if you've got some cash ;)

To get around the visual issue (if there would be one) would be to build it with a perspex base and have the LED light up inside, so the base of the switch would glow when on.

So I did some googling and found two companies that make a switch similar to what I'm looking for. Unfortunately they are both in the UK.

I emailed both of them and asked if they could put that into a micro enclosure. So I'll let you guys know if they respond.

I have also been talking with Dan from T1M EFFECTS as well about making one, he's in Mt. Pleasant, SC.

I also emailed Dan at the GigRig to get more info. on how their G2 bank up switch works exactly. I've got a lot of feelers out, so I'm just waiting for responses at this point.

Bright onion do some quality routing stuff - I think it was them who built a bespoke pedal routing system for the RHCP guitarist's pedal tech, so he can trouble shoot josh klingthorpfer' 40 or so pedals he uses live - lol.

The momentary action of a switch simply triggers some action in your GigRig. It does not act as a toggle, that is all taken care of in the GigRig. So if you need to have an LED, you need a something inside the footswitch that flips an LED on/off. The big problem with that is, the footswitch controller isn't talking to the GigRig, so you would need a way of manually syncing the LED on/off with the GigRig function on/off.

That's a good point, otherwise you would have to disconnect the switch to make sure you could match up the led on with the right setting on the gigrig before every time you set up for a session/gig. That could get old quite quickly! There will be the one time you forget which will totally throw you off, etc etc

Might be possible to rehouse the gig rig one, it doesn't need all those led light - can't find a gut shot though, might not be practical to do if it's all mounted on a big pcb.

When I emailed GigRig, I asked if it was possible to make the switch smaller. I know they make custom stuff like that occasionally.

They are just slow to reply by email, as I'm sure they get a lot of emails. Probably faster to post to their Facebook page, but I don't have a Facebook account and don't want one. ;)
