Mob Movies...

I never considered myself a fan of mobster movies. The Departed was really the closest i got to those kind of movies, probably the only one i've ever seen actually, and i really enjoy watching it.

A friend in my work was randomly hitting out with lines from one of these movies and he was pretty surprised that i hadn't heard of them. He suggested i try and find "GoodFellas" to watch. I found it for £8 so i just grabbed it.

I was a tad sceptical at first, but i must say i thought the movie was incredible!!! I properly enjoyed it, and i've no idea why i hadn't seen it sooner. (For the record, Joe Pesci is such a badass ).

So i'm a bit of a fan of the old mob movies of late. He has given me "Casino" to watch, he says it's equally as great as GoodFellas.

Are there any other good mobster movies you guys have seen in the past? I'm quite intrigued

Both Goodfellas and Casino are great movies. If you haven't already seen them, The Godfather and The Godfather Part II are both films that you must watch; The Godfather Part III, while a decent movie on it's own, doesn't hold a candle to the first two though.

Miller's Crossing is a really good one. A bit quirky in typical Coen Brothers form, but excellent.

I thought about mentioning the Guy Ritchie movies as well, but since you are from the UK you're probably very familiar with them

Both biker gang movies. The Wild One with Marlon Brando from 1953 and Hells Angels on Wheels made in 1967

I love A Bronx Tale. It's kind of a lesser known movie IMO, but it's a gem.

I love the old TV series The Untouchables with Robert Stack. The movie with Kevin Costner and the newer version on the series didn't really do it for me.

Oofty, great suggestions guys! I never knew there were so many. This will keep me busy for quite some time I just this minute finished watching Casino... wow, what a film I have to give it back tomorrow so i'll be buying it for certain.

I'm thinking The Godfather films will be next Going into town tomorrow to stock up on some of these films. Thanks again for all the suggestions guys, i've made a list!
