oh i know, and i'm certainly not faulting the officers. my statement was more of fact than contempt.

I watched both of those videos in their entirety. According to the cop, they can lie their asses off and use time as a method of "legal coercion".

The deck is definitely stacked in their favor.

Seems as though a lot of you are of the mind that anyone the police might be questioning is already guilty of a crime and therefore why give them any breaks, lets make it easyer for the police to put these obvious criminals away.
Heck why give anyone accused any rights just lock them up until they cop a plea to something.

They use the Reid techniques. Read up if you aren't familiar, it's eye opening.

Heres the deal shut the fuck up go to your cell and wait to talk to an attorney. It is not rocket science. Lower education everyone has seen some sort of cop show. Yeah with the freedom act they basically have all the authority they need to do what they want. Probable cause and entrapment went out the door years ago.

I hate to hijack a thread, but I must make my opinion known on a matter.

Everyone hates cops. I get that, I stopped caring years ago.

The big joke is this: Cops are THE biggest soft touches out there. Think about the mindset of a working stiff that everyone hates. A hint of honesty to a cop is shocking, and worthy of a shitload of forgiving discretion.

Try putting your life on the line and get branded some shit because there's a few who misbehave. I say they're kinda entitled to be cranky just for a little while.

Ok then, how about some honesty from you guys?

Suppose an officer were to stop a car that is, per chance, being driven by his daughter's best friend, with his daughter in the passenger seat, and in the back is clearly visible contraband that under the circumstances will deliver both girls long mandatory prison sentences.

What would happen next?

That is of course a rhetorical question, because we all know what would happen next. More to the point is that it would not, in all honesty, necessrily happen for another person's child - would it?

So how do you address the truth and dilemma that this example puts forth?

It must be different in the States, cause up here I've been pulled over so many times I lost count -and the quickest way to start unwanted shit is to not tell the cops where your going or coming from.

they always ask for license and registration AND where you coming from, going to,have you been drinking?,thats it. I look at it like standard banter.

Oh,and when asked if you been drinking, always say no.

HUH... Everyone?? WOW. That's a vast over generalization of what the entire population thinks. The cops have helped me out a few times in the past and I'm very grateful for them and what they did.

I agree that when a cop pulls you over stfu. They have more than enough power to screw you over already you don't have to add to the situation. And now say the following.. "I'm not talking without my/a lawyer." Then STFU!!

Been said a lot here already. But I think it's stupid that we have to invoke that right and not have it read to us by the arresting authorities. It's just one more right that's going down the toilet.

Just my 2c

Meanwhile in Germany:

The European Court of Human Rights has upheld the claim that torture threats made by police against a German child murderer had been in breach of his human rights. The court however ruled that he can not seek a retrial.

A crime is a crime. I don't get it how a proven criminal can escape justice based on "procedural" grounds.

The justice system must give more weight to the actual pursuit of justice than to the procedure involved in it.

The actual pursuit of justice must be based on procedure, we can't just change the rules because you " know " it is a proven criminal.

I think you mean you can't bend the rules, 'cause they sure can be changed.

You're right. It was an over generalization. I retract that statement.
