I had an urge for a black custom. Bought 2 on Jauce simultaneously - a Burny RLC60 and an Orville.

The Burny absolutely smoked the Orville. It was no contest. Sold the Orville after about 1 week and I still have the Burny.

Do all LC195s and LC195 Tokais have FEB?

I am pretty sure they all have !
Only lower eg LC95 have no binding and no ebony boads

The difference between LC195 and LC195s ???

What version Orville was it? Terada or Fujigen - I prefer my Fuji Epis over the two burny LPCs I've got

That's a beauty should buff up nicely, I've always loved the split inlays. Even the super power 500's look well spec'd so that's gotta be right up there. Was it a YJ find?

LOVE the wine red LC98.

What do you think of the stock pick ups ?
Can you comepare them with some of the Gibson units ?
Are they hot ? top heavy ? warm ? mid-range'y ?

Thanks !

Very decent PAF style pickups. I slightly prefer Gibson '57 Classics but there's not much in it. I'm also familiar with Tim Shaw humbuckers. They're smoother than the Tokai Mk IIs but less detailed and more suitable for high-gain - less vintage. Other modern Gibson hums I'm not that familiar with.

I'll only replace mine for Bare-Knuckles to get that last 5% of '50s PAF-iness.

Thought I would ressurect an old thread with this interesting 1980 Tokai LC-100 :thumb:

It isn't mine unfortunately, and sorry .. no idea where it is now.
It may very well still be residing in Japan somewhere.

It was either a custom order or a possible prototype based on the more detailed
Artisan inlay work than on all 1980-82 LC examples that followed.
Fretboard looks brown, but seller said it had an ebony board when it was listed for sale in 2014.

The Artisan inlays don't do much for me, but that is a tasty guitar all the same. The fretboard looks to be roughly the same color as on my LC100, and I'm confident that's ebony.

Heres my G serial Orville by Gibson LP Custom.Judging from what I've read here about ObG serials it looks to be a 1990. My first MIJ and I love it!:dude:

I am shocked those are so heavy for being made of pure virgin Corinthian Cork.
