Thanks Al.
I read the manual on the Mesa site so I have a pretty good idea on what it can do.
Would love to get feedback from people that have used these amps so I know what to look out for.
I guess some tweaking is on the agenda for tomorrow.
Very much a vintage or slightly driven tone type amp.
Cleans are fantastic and dirt is more like a Marshall JTM 45.
Unique for a Mesa 6L6 amp IMO.
More suited for blues and 70's rock.
May try the EL34's in it to see what happens my guess they will help the overall flavor of the amp.
Lots of switches on them. I remember when they first came out. I was into knobs and switches back then, so I was really interested. Sadly, I never got to play one.
It's a tweaker's amp. Over kill for me, as I'm a totally one dimensional player. A good guitar player could probably make the most out of it and you could learn a lot about your amp preferences. I used mine for metal/hard rock tone. It did sound killer.
Here's mine:
I had it for about 4 years I think. I sold my '79 Marshall 100w JMP for it. I thought I was downsizing, but the 2x12 Mesa was louder than the Marshall with a 4x12.
