Mesa 50 cal ext cab questions

I can never get this straight, here goes

1. Internal speaker 12" is plugged into 8 ohm and says 8 ohm on the black shadow....good there

2. Extra jack is marked 4 ohm, I have a 2 x 12" ext cab that is 16 ohm.

here is the question(s)

1. Can I use my 16 ohm ext cab with the 4 ohm jack
2. Can I keep the 12" internal hooked up?

plug 112 (8ohm) into 4ohm jack of your amp
plug 212 (16ohm) into 8ohm jack.
