Melody Makers are pretty awesome. I haven't seen a MM at my local GC, but doesnt mean you wont find one there. I've only played one Melody Maker and it was at a smaller shop. Im pretty sure they are a little bit over or under $400 dollars.

Man I am getting one of the older models with the p90 on the bridge, they are actually Les Pauls Melody Makers!!! It's got to be second hand now and it'll be around £300 here in the UK.
A bit like a LP Junior!! I can't wait!!
You should try one of those before.... (the bridge and tail piece are different too!!)

hmm well if i buy a guitar second hand i wanna play it before i buy it, so buying one out of ebay would be out of question, but if i see one in a store i will remember what you said.
but i'm guessing that here i sweden it would be difficult to find one of those.

I'm expecting mine today or tomorrow!! (I bought it off ebay, so we'll see!!)
Is a simple guitar, is gonna be my number 2 or 3 so no biggie. I expect a chunky neck and lots of gritty tones.... he-he-eh
I'll post pictures as soon as I can!!

Aaaw man, that black one looks killer!

I found a worn yellow with the P90 locally, but can't agree on the price with the current owner :(

Haven't tried a melody maker, but they sure look great.

I'm in Europe, so it's in Euros. If I convert it to USD, it would be about 560 USD.
I offered 490 USD max.
Difference might be small, but still...

well....he MIGHT be high......
but it IS eurpoe...and these ARE discontinued...and i'm betting there's a LOT less of these over there....AND it's a LPmm...think more on the 'rarity' side

i know if i were selling mine, i'd ask at least $450-$500

(...but i'm a notorious crackhead :D )

There ARE a lot less over here. For sale even less.

And I know that because of it being rare, the price is not very high, but explain that to my wife ;)

I received mine yesterday, a lovely 2003, faded red, Les Paul MM with a growly p90 on the bridge.
Amazing sound for a cheap guitar! Whoa!!! Great guitar.
It only needed a bit of lemon oil, a little "rolling" in the neck and new strings.
I am completely stoked. I simply love it!!
I've got a LP Junior pickguard on the way, and as soon as is ready I'll post some pics...
Cheers
