My sequence has been as follows;
Cry like a baby, mourn, swear to never get another dog, and move on.
Two things have happened with that.
One, another dog finds it's way into my life and I love it as much as the previous dog.
Two, once the pain wears off, all that is left are the pleasant memories, and that stays forever.
