Yes, I did read the article, I know he fell into a hole he couldn't see, I know he didn't fall into lava, and I know he was in his own yard.

I was commenting on the massively unfortunate circumstances of his death, an otherwise perfectly healthy active man basically falling into an unseen hole, probably breaking his neck, crushing his skull, causing massive internal injuries, or a combination thereof.

I get the whole lava tube/sink hole connection.
