That’s true.
I left my parents house on Sunday evening and they had that game in hand, 4-0. I forget which inning, but it was late.

Nope.

Darvish was a bust, who knew. Several Astros players had photos of the recent flood in Houston in their lockers for motivation.

It was a very entertaining series.

Happy for Houston, that city needed something good like this to happen

LA should have won that series, They badly mismanaged the pitching staff. You bring Kershaw back for game 4 on 3 days and then he can start game 7 on 3 days. They still should have started him last night on 2 days rest, a tired Kershaw is better than most anybody else in the bigs. Lots of second guessing in the front office and locker room today

I don't follow baseball. But being in TX and with the storms that happened here. Good for them.

I'm not much of a sports fan of any kind. But I spent 20 + years in Houston, and I now consider the Astro's my Home Team. After 2005, I thought it would take at least 20 years for them to get back to WS, particularly since they seemed to get rid of the talent they had. This was a HUGE deal to Houstonians. We who used to affectionately call them the Disastro's stand up and salute them.

Sad news. His father was a commercial pilot. Seems like Halladay really enjoyed flying, just such a dangerous endeavor.

Heard that today. NY'ers are lukewarm to this, to put it mildly. But Joe Girardi also went from former player to manager without managerial experience, if I'm not mistaken?
Yep. The Marlins gave him his first job as manager in 2005. (WIKI) The first thing he did was ban facial hair. In 2006 the Marlins announced that they had fired Girardi, despite him winning 2006 Manager of the Year. They had a $15 Million payroll that year.

That facial hair ban was undoubtedly a result of his days as a Yankee under Steinbrenner who banned it.

Miami Herald:
"When Derek Jeter was starting high school, his parents made him sign a contract agreeing to rules about curfew, drugs and alcohol and how to treat girls."
