I did a 490R and it broke the windings killing the pickup, which was a minimal loss.
As for the 498T, I like it a lot for what it does. Someone did an EMG 81/85 vs 498/490 shootout in a LP. I was shocked at the clarity and the sound the 498 had over the 81… clean and driven. The 490 was the worst of the bunch.
The 498T is a reasonably warm/hot bridge with an A5. Frankly, I would either replace it with a different pickup A2/ceramic/A8, etc than risk breaking the windings for another A5
