I had never really thought of Harmony as anything other than an entry level brand before, except for their archtops. Looks like they're really stepping up.

Harmony sold electric guitars at JC Penney in the 80s and/or 90s. I only know this because I went back through some of their online catalogs from when I was a kid and noticed everything was labeled Harmony.

Edit: I found a few pics from the catalog

The semi-hollows definitely grabbed my attention.
I need to find a store that carries them and look them over.

I had the piece of shit white beginner electric from Harmony. It was awful. I like the looks of the new ones. Hard to beat an American guitar under 1500.

Better than what I had. I had asked for a guitar for Christmas one year. They bought me a "guitar" alright. It was sort of a karaoke-style guitar. By that I mean it had a mic that plugged into the input jack and there was a speaker in the guitar, where the pickups would have been. So instead of playing the guitar to make sound, you basically played "mouth guitar" into the mic, and verbalized guitar sounds in place of actual notes, bends, vibrato, etc...

Yea, it sucked even at 9 or 10 years old. It was a plastic guitar with a plastic neck and nylon strings. It was more toy than guitar. Before that one, I actually had a child's acoustic guitar with nylon strings that was closer to an actual guitar but still somewhat toy-ish.

Ironically, that "karaoke guitar" what I was looking for in the JC Penney catalogs at Wishbookweb.com a few months ago, where I got the pics I posted above. I never did find it, though. I did see all of the other toys I asked for back then. That was back when those stupid "Moon Shoes" were a thing. They were basically crappy miniature trampolines strapped to your feet using these contraptions that would break your ankle if you weren't careful. Lol
