LP serial numbers.

Why does it seem like some people hesitate to share serial numbers? I see the number blacked out in pics and when some people ask for the number, people will say to private message them. I’m curious why some people won’t share it?

I think people are afraid someone would copy their serial and fake a guitar.

Just a guess. Or it's the Illuminati trying to take control.

Yea, and maybe some one could use it for fraud with an insurance company, by filing a false claim.

The same goes for cars in for sale ads. A lot of people blurr out the license plate. Its pretty public all other times,... Like when they are driving The same with the VIN, its right there on the dash most of the times.

Yeah that makes sense. I always thought “what’s the serial number” was a weird question anyway, but I guess people dig knowing what the numbers are.

Same thing with license plate numbers in car photos. What's the point? A thousand people a day see your tag. WGAF?

i will ask a seller the first 3 or 4 digits....or ask how they verified year/age

never had any ignore me.....except when i lowball them afterwards.....

Why should they ? You don't need that information on someone else's guitar.

i have to admit that i expect maybe too much from sellers but i would expect a knowledgeable seller to provide more information than the average person asks.....

you can also tell alot about their knowledge by their reply when i ask for more info..

like when i ask for a pic of the control cavity and they ask....."what is that?"

then when i tell them, they say they dont know how to do that or are afraid the will scratch it....

four screws are hard to undo....

I always thought it was so fraudsters couldn't steal your photos and put up their own add, but then they could just use the one's with the number blurred out anyway, and then, and then...
