Hi all,

Have been lurking and reading up on refinishing, but have some questions I'm hoping you can help me with.

Want to redo a LP Special in Union Jack, similar to the Agile. Since it is not bound, I need to decide how much to wrap the stripes around and how to border it.

Thinking that Nitro is out due to the striping/taping. Any thoughts on paint and clear types/favorites outside the reranch sprays? Will most likely do spray cans.

Any other thoughts or pleas to talk me out of it, or encourage are welcome, along with color choices.

Thanks in advance.

Why not nitro? Again? I agree the reranch stuff is expensive, but it's also good stuff.

How much experience you have with this type of thing? This is something I wouldn't suggest for a person starting out.

You could do it, you could fade the stripes into a dark blue background or something, but I'd do that with a spray gun and airbrush, not just a spray can.

Thanks.

Not sure how long the color coats would need to dry before switching colors and would want it to be properly cured before removing tape or retaping.

Also, not sure of the medium dark blue color selections in nitro....I don't remember seeing a Reranch dk. blue.

You can get some (many) preval sprayers and mix your own colors. Those things are 5 bucks a pop for the refills so it's not that expensive.

Best part, it's all disposable and you get those little glass jars you can keep some of the color in for a touchup and stuff like that. I hate cleaning the spray guns, hate it, but you have to do it. I usually wait 3 weeks or so before buffing, depends on the weather and all that but that's more or less what I do, it'll give you an idea about curing times.

You can use Rustoleum or Krylon if you want, I guess, they're pretty cheap and they come in every color you can imagine.
