What Standard do you have in mind? What year and condition?

IMO: A starting bid of $2,500 is a bit high for that Custom with ten-ton of buckle rash.
Personally, I think the CS is a step above a USA Standard. Not taking anyting away from
the Standards, they are fantastic guitars, each have their place. If your in the used market, best bet would be to play them first and make your pick.

That's not a CS, LB. :laugh2: And yes, that price is WAY too high for an '87.

--Edit-- Probably about right for Australia though..

So, it would be refered to as a Custom, not a Custom Shop?

That brass nut is kind of cool. Probably adds a touch of brightness to the tone.

yeah. I realized it was brass, but it looks like the strings line up in the middle of screwheads. Just looks crazy, is all.

:hmm:

It's hard to answer that question for someone else. What do you want? I have an '86 Custom. It's a wonderful guitar. Sounds great. Very thin neck. Very heavy. I have a few Standards and a few historic reissues. They are all different, they all have their own personality. I love the look of the Customs. :dude:

looking at that guitar from a strictly aesthetic perspective i have to say it's pretty fugly. and the buckle rash, jeez.

a new or used in mint condition standard at least gives you a gorgeous unspoiled finish.

how do Australian dollars convert to US dollars? maybe you can pick up a used historic in that price range. it will most likely ne newer and in much better shape.

It also doesn't look like the original workmanship was that good. Check out the tuning post hole positions. On one side they are kissing the binding, on the other they are set in more.

Right now at $2,500 AUD it would be $2,316 USD.

I'd try to find a pre-owned, well played and well loved Standard..........
