LP body dimensions

Sorry if this has been asked anywhere before, but do all regular LP models (Standard, Custom, Deluxe, etc) all have the exact same body size? I know the Juniors and Specials are different, but are the rest all the same? You see some photos with players where the guitars look just huge, and the next one they look tiny in comparison. I don't have any particular photos to show what I mean, just going by eye here. And yes I realize the persons' body size that is playing it can make the photo very deceiving and make it look smaller/bigger than it actually is but always wondered if the bodies have always been the same size.

The 2D shape looking at the front is actually the same shape for all LP's, Jr/special included. The depth does change, the maple cap being added - but studios have a thinner cap I think too.

Thanks. I did know the thicknesses change, was just looking at the straight on 2D view. Must be just the photos then. Strange how they can look different. And I always thought (and had been told too, so I'm not the only one) that the Jrs/Specials were slightly different. Will have to try and do an overlay sometime.

The neck attachment position is different. If you were to take a regular LP and find the body centreline, then the Jr and Jr special (the ones with the ledge under the neck) have the neck attaching about 1/4" toward the upper bout - but only on the neck end. The neck line points toward the regular strap button on the back of the guitar

^^^^ I was waiting for that one. That one on the right is the Buckethead sig guitar (he's 6'7" or something and a standard looks tiny on him). It's 10% larger, and the scale is 27" compared to the standard 24.6" or so.

There differences you're seeing are, for the most part, due to differences in the size of the player. Randy Rhoads was barely 5'7" and tiny, Zakk Wylde is 6'2" and not tiny.

There's also this; a lighter (or white) guitar is going to look larger, a darker (or black) guitar is going to look smaller.

Yeah, I knew there were one or two exceptions - I think the ES ones might be a bit different too, but for the purposes of the thread it was close enough to pass for the OP.

Wonder who approached who in making that larger version? If he hit up Gibson to build a larger to-scale LP, can only imagine what they charged, lol.

The bridge centerline to the edge of the body (think strap button) is different from my '87 than my '13. I never went to so far as to measure the rest of the body as those measurements happened while looking at bigsbys.

I don't think they charge for Sig models.....rather the other way around.
